Hello,
I wonder whether there is a difference in the output or in the result exploration in MEGAN Ultimate vs Community Edition when using the MEGAN-AnnoTree pipeline.
On the MEGAN-AnnoTree website there is only one MEGAN mapping DB listed.
The following file maps AnnoTree accessions to taxonomic and functional classes (NCBI, GTDB, EC, eggNOG, InterPro2GO, SEED), unzip before use:
megan-mapping-annotree-June-2021.db.zip
However, the MEGAN6 Download Page lists 2 different mapping files, one for the MEGAN community edition and one for the ultimate edition:
MEGAN6 Community Edition installers:
The following file maps NCBI-nr accessions to taxonomic and functional classes (NCBI, GTDB, EC, eggNOG, InterPro2GO, SEED), unzip before use:
megan-map-Feb2022.db.zip
MEGAN6 Ultimate Edition installers (require license key):
The following mapping file only works with MEGAN Ultimate Edition. It contains KEGG, as well as NCBI, GTDB, eggNOG, InterPro2GO and SEED, unzip before use:
megan-map-Feb2022-ue.db.zip
The Megan-Annotree mapping database seems not to be exclusive for the MEGAN Community or Ultimate Edition.
Hence, I want to know whether there is any difference if I would run the daa-meganizer of the Ultimate Edition compared to the Community Edition and in the data exploration within MEGAN.
I have another question: Do you plan to release resp. update the MEGAN-AnnoTree database and mapping file in the future? The last release of the mapping DB was on June-2021.
Thank you!
Best regards, Bernhard
