Attributes bug in Megan5 v.5.10.6 on mac

Dear Megan Team

I currently started using MEGAN5 program for analysis of a metatranscriptomic dataset. During this I would like to make some attributes to the sample names so that I can distinguish the different conditions from each other. When trying to do so the program gives me an alert messages. “Execute failed: java.io.IOException: line 1: ‘;’ excepted, got ‘attibute’.
I am using MEGAN5 v. 5.10.6 on a Mac computer.

Is there a way that I can fix this.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
Morten

Dear Morten,

where you using the Sample Viewer? Could you upload the messages that appear in the Message Window so that I can see what the problem is?

Thanks Daniel

Dear Daniel

Thanks for your answer. Yes I was using the sample viewer.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
Morten Schostag

Dear Morten, I am assuming that you selected New… from the menu or a context menu to create a new attribute?
I can’t reproduce the problem…

Also, have you taken a look at MEGAN6 yet? It has been under development for some time and we will officially release it soon. I mention this because one of the features of MEGAN6 is a completely new sample viewer that should make adding attributes and working with metadata much easier… (available here: http://ab.inf.uni-tuebingen.de/data/software/megan6/download/welcome.html)
